Our Staff & Volunteers
Our passionate and experienced team does not draw a salary from the Nonprofit. We are all dedicated volunteers that promote the well-being of the animals in the sanctuary, and committed to provide the community with learning experiences on sustainable gardening and environmental stewardship.
We partner with local Colleges and Universities to provide the best care for our animals, and education for the community.
Our History
Our passion for animals started over 40 years ago at a horse rescue in West Palm Beach. About ten years ago, we saw a great need for rescues and sanctuaries for larger farm and zoo animals. We found that there is an abundance of experienced volunteers that want to help but a shortage of facilities that are equipped to house large animals. Four years ago, we purchased a few acres just before the Covid-19 pandemic. During this critical time, we noticed that numerous rescues were closing. This is when we brought our first rescue home, a six-month old malnourished miniature horse who we named Yazhi - a Navajo word for "Little One". During this time we also used our knowledge in alternative farming methods like Hydroponics and Aquaponics which helped us to become self-sustaining during the pandemic. With our small farm, we were able to share our eggs, vegetables and fish to our neighbors. Since then, we have expanded our rescue and found a home for our nonprofit in a little town called Windsor, in Gainesville, Florida. With your help in the years to come, we hope to continuously have the ability to create a safe haven for horses and other large animals that need a home and educate the community on different farming skills. We are happy to finally be recognized as a Registered 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization. We hope that we can all help each other.
